I am participating in an internship for a company called Policy Impact Communications. They are a government and public relations firm that deals with FORTUNE FIVE HUNDRED COMPANIES (Companies with the big bucks $$). Two of our main clients are T-Mobile Communications and FranklinCovey. Some of our main business comes from Kongsberg/Force Protection. They sell ginormous equipment to the army. Pretty much a yellow toy tonka truck X500, to give you an estimated size on the machines. Another cool thing that Kongsberg sells is a high-tech device to put out the top of the machines that can be operated below so they can't be shot by a sniper. Few........no sweat off our backs. They only cost $$$$$$$$$$ (sorry I can't disclose that information)!
Policy Impact is in the heart of downtown DC. I take the metro to work everyday and listen to the IPOD walking to work. We work on the 6th Floor of this really nice office building. I am the receptionist. So I answer phones, schedule appointments, clean, water the plants, update the website (the Daily Digest part), and then I do anything that is asked of me :). I am really enjoying my job. I work with really nice people. My firm is LDS which was quite a shock to me when I started but, is has been great. I have loved working with everyone. The peeps in the office are; the boss, Bill (Stake President of his stake :)....), Carlie, John, Kelly, Craig, Jeff and Drew.
My work schedule is Monday through Friday 9-5 and on Friday's we usually get off early. The best part about my internship is that my second week working I had the week off!!! That meant that I got to travel the city and get familiar with it. All of the other interns were so jealous. The reason for being closed for a week was due to the slow business that happens every year at this time. All of the residents go on vacation because it is the week before school starts and just a lot of businesses take it off. I love being the recptionist because I get to listen to the FOX News ALL DAY LONG. It keeps me updated on current events. It is information that is good conversation starters. All-In-All this world is becoming corrupt!! That has been my conclusion from all of the horrible stories that I hear on the news. What a disappointment! Here are some pic's at work:
