...and a cheery on top!

The National Cathedral in the fall

To top the weekend off, on Sunday Erin and I went to the National Cathedral. It is such a remarkable building...its breath taking. It is the highest building in DC because it is on a hill, so the view from the top level, views the whole district. The tallest building in DC is the Washington Monument and nothing is suppose to exceed that. But anyways...we spent the afternoon in awe at the architecture of the Cathedral. They also have a garden to the south of the Cathedral that reminds me of the secret garden. The National Cathedral is now checked off my list of things to see before I go home....

Look how vivid this yellow fall tree is...

In front of the National Cathedral..Er & I

The flying buttresses (oh boy, I love that word. Erin taught it to me. Its where the towers connects(the arch) to the building)

This is a horrible pic of one of the stained windows in the Cathedral, but just so you get the just of how beautiful they are

Later that night Erin, Me, Em and her friend Tim whose visiting went to the National Mall...we went to the Washington Monument, WWII, Lincoln and Vietnam Memorial. We had to go to the Vietnam Memorial because it was Veterans Day. We had to honor those that fought for us. It was perf timing! We also went across Constitution Ave to the National Sciences Building to see Einstein. He is so big and you could just look at him for hours. My favorite part of the whole night was the last monument that we went to. It is called the Awakening. It is so cool...you actually feel like you are walking on the guy when you stand where his body would be. The pictures dont do the statue justice but it shows the face, one hand, one arm, one leg and a foot. It is located in a really cool location also, out on an island/penninsula where the Anacostia and Potomic merge.

This pic doesn't do the statue justice...but look hard for the hand, face, arm, and leg

And of course we went home and finished the night with a movie...Ever After!
